Charter Sucks

JUST BECAUSE I'M WANDERING, DOESN'T MEAN I'M LOST........

Maybe there is no excuse for not posting lately. Maybe it's because since school has been out my Charter Pipeline cable internet connection has slowed to a near standstill. It's very frustrating. It started with the thunderstorms that caused outages a couple of weeks back, but what is the excuse now? As it is, a rural ten party dialup would be faster. (And I've had those. I know s _ l _ o _ w.) Hubby thinks it's school being out and lots of kiddies being on, but at any hour of the day or night? I don't think so. If you have Charter and have these problems, let me know.

My other excuse is this nasty thing we call life. I have reached a stage at which my children are becoming adults and my parents are becoming children. It ain't pretty and I don't recommend it to anyone. Oh well, I promised never to bitch and moan here and I won't.

I'll just say. CHARTER SUCKS!

Perhaps you should actually call tech support about this, instead of sitting on your ass complaining and whining to nobody who cares.

Problems don't get resolved on their own, and your ISP is not psychic. If you're having a problem, let them know.

Sorry guy. The only reason I _would_ complain publicly is that I have spent many, many hours on the phone with Charter. I've logged the average wait time for a human voice to be 45 minutes. Then you get someone who can merely access a data base. Better I had the data base at my own disposal. I already know to reboot, better yet unplug and replug, everything. I regularly renew my IP configuration. In fact, I may have pretty much memorized the database concerning this problem by now. Also, you might have noted, that my very next entry stated that the problem at that time was not caused by Charter. In closing, I thank you for your input.

It's always down right when I need to do something important like, say, work. Their "tech support" is useless. And it's slow and crappy even when it is up.

Have you tried to replace any of you equipment? Is it possble the fault maybe on you side?

I hate Charter. It is impossible to reach someone with a college education on the phone, much less someone of any assistance. Charter only works about 1/4 of the time that it should.

Slow, slow, slow service (except for the bills, those arrive right on time!). Tech support? I've never heard so many lies! Once they told me the rain caused "line leakage" and to wait for the wires outside to dry out!!!!

i live in an area where the only choice is charter. first i pay 50$ for 256k. second they had one cable line ran to the apartment and split at each unit and by the time it got to my apartment it was split 4x it worked ok between 2am and 4am if my neighbors were not on the net.then i have to call florida(im in nm) just to talk to tech support. they gave me a couple new modems tested the line and finally after months of complaining the ran a cable line to my apartment. now it works most of the time but everyone else in the apartment is still on on cable line

Charter is completely useless, I had a 2 month period of outages, I was constantly on the phone with their poor excuse for tech support, oh and dont ya just love the reboot your machine BS, oh wait here's the best one ever, delete your temp www files to get the connection back up. I loved that one. The end game......I dropped their sorry asses and switched to Direct TV and Verizon DSL. It's so weird to always have my internet connection up as it should be. My advise to you if Charter is the only choice for your high speed ISP.....call AOL and use dial-up least it will work when you want it to.

Charter Pipeline SUCKS BIGTIME. Rather than sitting around on their ass all day collecting money due them, why don't they get some honesty and stop charging high prices for garbage?

Shit, slow performance began about 5-6 weeks ago and hasn't been the same since. Twice I called to complain about slow-downs or dead lines, only to hear a recording indicating that there's trouble with the network and "it's being worked-on."

So let's just say that Charter impressed me for the first 7 months, but nowadays it's downright crap. Don't bother calling your "Customer Service Rep" locally. The only thing they seem to do well is make a cup of coffee.

Being an electronics technician myself, I know that DSL will be a better, more stable performer for the long haul. My connection sucks any time of the day and I'm ready to go back to dial-up.

I hope that the "right" people read this.

I waited over 8 hours for charter support last weekend, and that rep could not help me. She promptly transferred me to a full voice mail box.

It takes a lot of effort to make support reach that level.

I'm a Charter Customer too....my service isn't always the best either. For the love of God people...you're all a bunch of whiners! There are starving and homeless people all around the world and our troops are fighting in a war torn country and this is how you choose to spend your energy?! You should be ashamed....in the end, it's self-loathing people like you who will go to hell, not Paul Allen. By the way....Paul Allen isn't even associated with Charter anymore, that's old news!

CHARTER DROPPED EARTHLINK AS SERVICE PROVIDER FORCING CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS TO CHANGE OVER EMAIL ACCOUNTS FROM OVER 3 YEARS AGO. SO NOW FORCED TO USE CHARTER AS AN EMAIL ACCOUNT...THE FUCKING SERVERS ARE ALWAYS DOWN. UNREAL JUST HOW BAD THEY CAN GET JUST WHEN YOU THINK THEY HAVE BOTTOMED OUT. Now you tell me!!! I went from a really crappy DSL ISP to an even crappier cable ISP, namely Charter cable. I think it's ridiculus that I have to unplug/replug my modem every 25 minutes to load a webpage. I guess I'm not alone. Their 'tech support' is totally hilarious. LOSERS. NetZero anyone? Talk about suckin. Here I am sitting in the lovely regional call center (in Orlando) for Charter cable. Yup. I'm one of those horrid tech support people you all keep talking about. And I admit it, we suck at tech support. I feel BAD when I have to tell people to power cycle their modems. *sigh* But alas, we arn't ALLOWED or trained to do anything else. We have to go through that utter nonsense before we can even transfer you to the proper tech support people.

Too bad Comcast is not around where you live I get 3MB for the same price that you all pay for 1.5MB. Mine is never down and even during peak usage times I average 2.5MB. Hope Charter Gets Bought out !!!!!!!!!!

Charter service has been absymal. 8 months and I still get constant drops in service, disconnects, and 4-6 hour outtages. Hell, I've been trying to load this page for 10 minutes now. Steady 40% packetloss is the norm. Tech guy has been out here 20-30 times, and finally said there is nothing he can do to help us. Cancel or deal with it. >=[

Unfortunately there is no alternative in the area for high speed, so I'm screwed.
